At Manhattan Orthopedics, we are dedicated to providing our professional athletes and our weekend warriors alike, with the most advanced medical technology, the highest levels of surgical expertise, and the best medical care in Manhattan. With our available diagnostic imaging services, we are able to do just that!
DIAGNOSTIC ULTRASONOGRAPHY
We are proud to offer our patients this cutting-edge technology to help improve treatment outcomes. Ultrasound uses sound waves to visualize soft tissue such as muscles and tendons.
Ultrasonography uses a probe containing one or more acoustic transducers to send pulses of sound into the patient. Whenever a sound wave encounters a material with a different density, part of the sound wave is reflected back to the probe and is detected as an echo.
By performing ultrasound-guided procedures and exams in the office physicians can decrease time to diagnosis and care, increase the accuracy of injections, and minimize the use of ionizing radiation inpatient evaluation.
DIAGNOSTIC RADIOGRAPHY (X-RAY)
Manhattan Orthopedics offers a state of the art radiology suite, identical to those found in Citi Field (home of the NY Mets), and in Barclays Center (home of the Brooklyn Nets).
Our x-ray facility features advanced digital technology that creates significantly increased image quality, allowing for sharper x-rays, better image detail and ultimately, better visualization and interpretation of fractures and other maladies. But best of all, the equipment features an integrated generator and cesium digital detector which allows us to deliver x-ray care with a fraction of the x-ray exposure of other, older x-ray facilities.
DIAGNOSTIC FLUOROSCOPY
For any unexplained joint pain, your physician may recommend a diagnostic procedure called a fluoroscopy. This is a procedure involving multiple x-rays of a joint using a fluoroscope, which immediately shows an x-ray image. An iodine solution is injected into the joint area to highlight areas around the painful joint and bring into focus the internal workings of specific joints and soft tissue structures. Problems with the ligaments, cartilage, tendons, or the joint capsule of the hip, shoulder, knee, ankle or wrist can be identified in many cases, but the most commonly studied joints are the knee and shoulder.
This technology is very helpful to surgeons when performing surgical procedures. Interventional fluoroscopy has tremendous advantages over invasive surgical procedures because it requires a very small incision which substantially reduces recovery time and reduces the risk of infection for the patient.
